Gbeleyi hails Tinubu on decentralisation of NCAT

Editor 1

LAGOS -- The Chief Executive Officer of Agil Travels and Tourism, Mr Ayo Gbeleyi has hailed President Bola Tinubu's move to decentralise the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT).

According to Gbeleyi, the move will transform the country's Aviation sector by increasing access to quality training across Nigeria’s six geo-political zones.

Recall that Tinubu had on January 8, announced the splitting of the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology, Zaria, Kaduna State, into six campuses across the country’s geo-political zones.

Emphasising the importance of appointing individuals with relevant sector experience to leadership positions, rather than based on appointments, Gbeleyi said decentralising the college was a step in the right direction.

He commended the establishment of a campus in Akure, Ondo State, as a brilliant move to spread development to other parts of the country.

He expressed optimism about the decentralization, stating it will equip Nigerians with aviation training and enhance the country's development in the sector.

Responding to questions on the effectiveness of the move, he stressed the need for experienced leaders in key positions.

Gbeleyi, who is of the opinion that Lagos would have been the best option for the South-West campus instead of Akure, however, opined that the move would open opportunities to spread development across the region.

The public analyst also said that President Tinubu's decentralisation of the Nigerian College of Aviation has been met with optimism by several industry players like himself.

Gbeleyi noted that while challenges remain, the move was seen as a positive step towards enhancing aviation training and accessibility in the country.
