NUJ NAN Chapel Press week to commence Sept. 25

LAGOS - The organisers of the Nigeria Union of Journalist (NUJ) News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) Chapel Press Week has announced that the 2nd edition of the event will commence from Monday, Sept. 25 through Friday, Sept. 29.

The 2023 edition of the week, 2nd in it's series, has as the theme: ``Drug Abuse and Nigerian Youths; Effects and the Way Forward".

The Chairman of the Local Organising Committee of the press week, Mrs Vivian Ihechu, says there will be many educative and interesting programmes as part of activities for the week.

According to Ihechu, some of the activities to spice the weeklong event, include road walkout and medical check up, games, competitions, visit to an orphanage and old people's home among others.

The highpoints of the NUJ NAN Lagos Chapel Press Week will be the Cultural Day and Lecture/Symposium programmes.

The cultural day is slated to hold on Tuesday Sept. 26, while the lecture/symposium will be held on Thursday Sept. 28, at the NAN Multipurpose Media Centre, National Theatre Annex, Iganmu Lagos.

The Main Guest Speaker for the lecture is Gen. Buba Marwa, the Chairman, of National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) alongside other distinguished speakers at the epoch event.

The Lecture/Symposium will serve as a model for agenda-setting role for the media, in addressing the prevalence of drug abuse among the youths for national restoration, as the lecture/symposium will touch on topical issues and profer solutions.

Participants expected at the event include, security agencies, secondary school students, community leaders and transporters.

The weeklong activities will climax with a media rendezvous scheduled to hold at the NAN Media Centre on Friday.

CBN sets 15kobo per transaction limit for contactless payments

ABUJA - The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has just released a circular announcing the new transaction limits for contactless payments in the country, effective June 27. The circular was signed by Musa Jimoh, the bank's Director of Payment Systems Management Department, made available via the verified Tweeter handle of the bank. According to the CBN’s Guidelines on Contactless Payments in Nigeria, contactless payments through accounts or wallets in Nigeria will have a transaction limit of N15,000 and a daily cumulative limit of N50,000. This means that customers can make contactless payments of up to N15,000 per transaction and up to N50,000 per day without entering their PIN or biometric verification. Unruly passenger of Ibom Air faces flight disruption charges -- NCAA confirms

Editor 1 LAGOS -- The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), has confirmed that the unruly passenger in the Ibom Air saga, Ms Chiamaka Ubani, was on January 10, docked at Uyo Magistrates' Court by the Nigerian Police for flight disruption charges.
