Brila Media Group, a leading sports radio network, has revealed a tale of deceit and betrayal by former employees who were allegedly involved in over a N150 million fraud scheme.
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Brila Group, Ms Debbie Larry-Izamoje, while addressing newsmen in Lagos said that the individuals, who were part of the company's team for several years, allegedly orchestrated a sophisticated web of lies, diverting funds, fabricating invoices and manipulating the system to embezzle over N150 million.
Debbie, however, said that when the alleged criminal activities were discovered, the former employees resorted to a malicious campaign to discredit Brila Media and its founder, Dr. Larry Izamoje.
According her, the former employees use social media platforms, to spread false and damaging stories, attempting to project the company as insensitive and anti-employee.
The CEO, however, said that the company had chosen not to take the bait as alleged suspects had been invited by law enforcement agents, interrogated and confessions were made.
She said: " Instead, the company has opted to align itself with the rule of law, allowing the relevant authorities to investigate and bring the perpetrators to justice.
"We will not be swayed by the malicious attempts to discredit us as we remain committed to our values of professionalism, corporate governance and value creation.
"We will continue to work tirelessly to provide the best possible service to our listeners and stakeholders because the accountant was picked up sometimes in August and he mentioned several names that were involved in the fraud.
"We have reassured our business partners, listeners, and fans that our company remains a reliable and trustworthy sports radio network."
Deby further said that as the investigation continued, the company had vowed to reveal the identities of the indicted individuals when the time was right.
"We urge our stakeholders to be cautious of the false information being spread on social media and to rely only on official statements from Brila Media," she said.
